Exhaust VVRi is more for emissions BUT the manual dual VVTi has better valves bigger buckets and a higher rpm. on the other hand the 1zz yea that was a mistake. :D i am not saying the 2zz is better or the beams is better i just want others to know that the 2zz is not a engine that should be ignore. all and all 503e yea who have even come close to making something on that level. every toyota engine are more advance than other and finish what they are set out to do. while nissan and honda kept their performance line up. yes honda and nissan have stronger motor but is simple toyota stop with performance and went onto economic mode. yes everyone have some vvti as well but toyota have the first dual vvti or cam timing thanks to the 3sge beams aside from that toyota had tvis than ecis or something like that than vvt and then vvti. so the k20 is just a stroke out 2zz for plain fact.

Vtec was only lift not cam timing the beams was ahead of its time too but the 2zz was the first engine to corporate lift with cam timing the k20 fellow a year later when toyota invented the 2zz to match up with honda b series and it did is job as well as succeeded.
